Job Description:

DT Professional Services is seeking a Financial Analyst with a background with Federal Contracts to join our team in a remote capacity! The Financial Analyst will use a variety of tools and techniques to monitor the progress of a project from start to finish, and work closely with Project Managers & other stakeholders to monitor progress, identify & resolve issues, and take corrective action where necessary. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining accurate project financial documentation, preparing reports, and providing support to the project team. The Financial Analyst should be highly organized, with excellent attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial tracking in support of government contracts; strong analytical ability and understanding of Estimate at Completion (EAC) development, must be able to reconcile and analyze financial data and have the ability to meet monthly CDRL (Contract Data Requirement List) deadlines as required by contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Support various Federal programs and special projects by providing financial & administrative support including project setup, vendor & AR/AP management, and financial analysis for internal & external customers
  • Comprehensive financial and business support throughout the entire lifecycle of direct work programs, including budgeting, resource management, execution, collections, and contract closeout
  • Develop and maintain vertical and horizontal relationships to bolster solid support systems; coordinating across functional areas to ensure monthly contractual deliverables are met timely and accurately
  • Help drive and support operational improvements in the day-to-day execution of the Program finance function
  • Develop program related financial data and metrics to include program budgets and forecasting
  • Provide oversight on financial tracking and the efficiency and effectiveness of financial programs; follow up on audit resolution and corrective actions
  • Serve as a business partner and adviser to senior leadership and program managers on all program financial matters for the assigned contracts
  • Administer subcontract funding, prepare Monthly and Weekly Program Review presentations, and produce financial deliverables as required for internal and external use
  • Process 75% LOF (Limitation of Funds) notices and RAFs (Risk Authorization Form) and ability to distinguish direct and indirect efforts
  • Work with project managers to establish baselines for cost, schedule, and scope, and track actual performance against those measures
  • Collect data from multiple sources, including timesheets, invoices, and financial reports, to generate accurate forecasts of project costs and timelines
  • Analyze trends and variances to identify potential risks and issues, and recommend corrective actions as needed
  • Prepares accurate invoices with supporting documentation based on contract requirements, corporate practices, and government regulations
  • Maintains billing schedules to ensure timely contract invoicing
  • Assists internal and external customers regarding invoice inquiries
  • Prepares general ledger journal entries to record billed and unbilled activity during the fiscal month
  • Lead the month end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation
  • Preparation of budgets and financial reports
  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable processing - creation/submittal of invoices:
    • All invoices submitted immediately to customers and submitted via WAWF if necessary 
    • Handles correspondence between DFAS / DCMA / DCAA for invoicing issues
    • Responsible for collections, aging, and weekly status reports to Controller 
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent 
  • 3+ years’ experience in a Financial Analyst role working with government service contracts
  • 1-3 years’ experience working with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Acquisition policies 
  • 3-5 years' experience communicating financial information and scenarios with management and Project/Program Managers
  • Experience in the generation of cost performance reports on government contracts; familiar with FAR & DFAR
  • Experience with various contract types (CPFF, CPIF, T&M, and FFP), Billing invoice experience and understanding of unbilled data
  • Knowledge of Forecasting, Cost Burdens, Labor Accounting, Tripwires, Contract Funding Obligation and De-Obligation, and Contract Closeouts
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills 
  • Motivated initiative-taker and able to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • 1-3 years’ working knowledge and experience with Deltek
  • 3+ years’ experience with Government Accounting terminology/acronyms (i.e. CLIN, SLIN, ACRN)
  • 3+ years’ experience working with Wide Area Workflow (WAWF)
  • Working knowledge of Google Sheets and Docs

The compensation range for this position: $75,000 - $85k,000 annually.
