Bookkeeper/Accounting Clerk
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper / Accounting Clerk with a strong background in government contracting and a working knowledge of Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will support day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial records, and maintain compliance with federal government regulations
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, payroll records, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure accounting practices are in full compliance with DCAA regulations and standards.
- Assist with preparation and submission of invoices in accordance with government contract terms (T&M, CPFF, FFP).
- Track and allocate costs appropriately using Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and indirect cost pools.
- Review, code, and process vendor bills and employee expenses, ensuring proper cost pool allocation and allowability under contract terms.
- Reconcile AR and AP sub-ledgers to the general ledger; maintain complete, audit-ready documentation for all transactions.
- Support monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and preparation of financial reports.
- Assist in preparing for DCAA audits, incurred cost submissions, and other government audits.
- Maintain organized records and documentation in line with FAR and DFARS requirements.
- Collaborate with program managers, project teams, and external auditors as needed.

Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting with a focus on government contracting.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting with a focus on government contracting.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Deltek Costpoint, Jamis, Unanet, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, with the ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets, use formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
- Excellent organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
- Motivated initiative-taker and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with sensitive government and financial requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Working knowledge of Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar government contract accounting systems.
- Experience preparing or supporting Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS) and DCAA audits.
The compensation range for this position: $55,000-$65,000 annually.
